Highlights of the Ministry fall 2000

A Dying Angel!

Little Shauna is an eight year old girl who came to our Sidewalk Sunday School a few weeks ago. She is a paraplegic confined to a wheelchair. Her thin frail body is so weak and broken it makes you want to cry just looking at her. She lives in one motel room shared with four others. Her father is in jail and her mother's current boyfriend is also in jail. When we gave Shauna shoes and lunch and showered her with attention, her face lit up. Someone asked me later what her disposition was like. All I could think of was, "she's like a dying angel." Job said, "have I not wept for those in trouble? Has not my soul grieved for the poor."

A Gift To A Child... At this holiday season, we think of gifts given to a newborn child in Bethlehem 2000 years ago. It is from the birth of Christ that we have the tradition of giving gifts at Christmas. Did you realize that many little children in our own community will not have any gifts at Christmas. Some of the children we minister to in the motels, seldom if ever, receive personal gifts. Most are just thankful for enough food to eat each day.

Jesus Loves The Little Children! A four year old boy came forward at the end of an alter call recently. You might think that he was too young to really understand the significance of making a decision for Christ, but when we prayed for him he began to tremble as the Holy Spirit was all over him. Jesus said, "unless we become as a little child we cannot enter the Kingdom of Heaven." When we are out in the motels, it is such a blessing to see how readily children embrace Christ.

A friend said recently, "you are fighting the demons of today for the darlings of tomorrow."

The Ten Commandments... We teach the ten commandments every time we have an opportunity to share with the children. Since they no longer receive any religious or moral training in the schools, we believe that this teaching will change their lives and keep many from a life of sin. God's word never returns void.

Food Distribution: Each week we have volunteers pick up food at the food bank, paid for by Angels for Christ to distribute to those in need. It is joyous and humbling to see the parents so grateful to receive this food. The appreciation we see is a validation of 2 Corinthians 9:10-11, "Yes, you will be enriched so that you can give even more generously. And when we take your gifts to those who need them, they will break out in thanksgiving to God."(NLT) Isn't it wonderful, when God gets the thanksgiving and the glory.

Even Gang Members Are Touched! A young man and his friend (we were later told that they were gang members) came and asked us, "why do you do this?" We simply replied, "because Jesus instructs us to." They smiled as they walked away. We overheard them say, "let's go to their church." We may never know the impact these outreaches have until we get to heaven, but when we see the power of God at work...we marvel.

Kindness Opens The Heart: Pastor's Jerry and Ruth Rodriguez who help with our food bank distribution each week, told us of a man who had years ago left the faith. He had come to the end of himself and was in desperate need. When they brought him some food, he broke down and cried. He couldn't believe that someone cared enough to help him in a time of distress. The result was, he returned to the Lord. "Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms." (1 Peter 4:10)

Angels For Christ Radio! Since the beginning of October, the Angels for Christ program can be heard internationally on the world wide web, satellite and short-wave radio through the services of World Harvest Radio. Continue to pray for the on-going radio ministry of Angels for Christ. Our desire is to see the gospel message of Jesus Christ proclaimed everywhere.

Amy Carmicheal's Prayer For The Future Generation... Amy Carmicheal ministered to Indian children whom she rescued from Hindu temples. In her book, "Amma" she prayed for the children -

"Make them good soldiers of Jesus Christ. Let them be winners and helpers of souls. Let them live not just to be ministered to, but to minister. Encourage them to be doers not just talkers. Let them enjoy hard work, and choose hard things rather than the easy. Make them wise for it is written, "He hath no pleasure in fools." Let them pass from dependence on us, to dependence on Thee. Let them grow up healthy, happy and friendly, and eager to make others happy. Give them eyes to see the world, and hearts to worship it's Creator. Let cruelty be hateful to them, and may they walk, oh Lord, in the light of Thy Face."

You Are Appreciated...Thank You For Helping: Your tax deductible gifts make a difference. If you have a car, truck, van, or any other item to donate, please give us a call. At this time of the year we can use donations more than ever.

Looking back over the past year, so many of you come to mind who have faithfully stood with us in supporting this ministry. We received a lovely card from Elena and her two children, who had been homeless, were born again in the park a year ago. It simply said, "thank you for showing us the way to Jesus, and for helping us." This thank you card is really for everyone who has helped us to help those in need.

Join us in our goal to reach and rescue more and more children with the message of hope and salvation through Jesus Christ. Thank you for your continued support by giving to this ministry.

Check Out our Website!

We have committed to continually upgrading our website monthly.  It is now jam packed with information and news about developments in the ministry. We now have sound bits from the radio programs and even 'alter calls for salvation' on the web.  We are believing that God will use this new technology for His glory. We are believing the Lord for the salvation of thousands of people through our website.

The website and our Angels for Christ radio programs are like 'God's Airforce.' We may never know this side of heaven who the Lord is touching by these programs.  But we do know this, when we preach the cross and share the Word, the bible says it will never return void!  Check out our website, you'll be blessed!

Starting next month Angels for Christ will be broadcast over World Harvest Satellite Network to Australia and the South Seas. These programs will be going to countries where Christians are suffering persecution for the gospel.  Thank you again, for your financial support and daily prayers. Every offering is prayed over individually.  This ministry is making a difference in the lives of many that the world has forgotten...because You care!

In His Service,

Don & Carol Ann Waisanen
