The Forgotten Children:
They are right on our doorsteps, down the street, or around the corner, children living in crowded motel rooms. Most people will pass them on
the street, never knowing the pain they are going through.
They have learned to live without many of the things we take for granted. Rarely, do they get the love and attention every child
deserves. Education is sparse, because they are going to what is called track school. They attend one month and are off the next.
Their little bodies have been abused and neglected; their minds are filled with cares far to complicated for them to understand. And their little eyes have seen things that no child should be exposed to. Yet, in spite of all the depravation of their young life...there is hope.
They have hope, because you care enough to support the work of Angels for Christ to rescue them.
We give them love and attention, food, clothing, and most important of all, we give them Jesus. Sometimes we are in awe of how readily they respond to the love of Jesus. Their little hearts are open to God’s plan of salvation...because He gives them hope. We understand the scripture in Galatians, where Paul said, “my little children of whom I travail.”
Which One’s Do We Leave Behind?
When was the last time you saw an adult crying to come to church? What does it usually take to get non-believers to attend church with you? It is
often difficult to get people interested in the things of God, because their life is filled with the things of this world. But when we offer to pick up these motel children and take them to church, they can’t
wait to go. They wait in anticipation each week to attend church.
The biggest problem we have is the lack of buses, vans and suitable vehicles to transport them. It is terrible to have to tell a child that we don’t have room for them. Please join us in prayer for the Lord to supply needed buses to transport these children. We don’t want to leave any child behind.
“But What Will Happen To My Toys?”
One six year old boy who comes to our sidewalk Sunday School, had to be rushed to the hospital emergency with a terrible asthma attack.
So many of these children have serious health problems, because of the conditions they live in and the lack of proper nutrition.
This little boy has professed his faith in Jesus; you should hear him
pray. He really prays with authority. We were asked to please remember to pray for his mother.
He said she was trying to get off drugs and his father (not his real father, his mother’s boyfriend) had been fired from the last three jobs. He was very worried, because his mother had tried everything, including begging by the freeway, but they still didn’t have enough money for their motel. This little guy felt the weight of the world on his shoulders. “If something doesn’t happen quick,” he said, “we will be on the streets and homeless, and then, what will happen to my toys?”
A Mother’s Prayers Are Answered!
Melanie, a young mother who lives at one of the motels, broke down and cried during one of our services and asked to be born again.
It seems she had a godly mother who had been praying for her for many years. She had shut out the message from her mother, but when we shared the gospel, she responded. It is wonderful to see how God uses each of us in different ways to accomplish His work.
We never know who the Lord is dealing with. Each week we see many children and parents alike respond to God’s message of hope by accepting Jesus Christ into their life. It is such a joy to see
how God works in the lives of those who have been rejected and forgotten by the world.
She Prayed For A Miracle -
Just before Christmas we received a call regarding a women and her grandson
who were absolutely out of food on Christmas Eve.
A team from Angels for Christ arrived at her door with a fresh turkey, a ham and lots of food. This 67 year old women could not stop weeping. As a believer, she had been praying all night for a miracle to happen. She had told her grandson God would answer prayer.
Her husband had unexpectedly passed away only two months before and she was just recovering from a lung transplant. These expenses and the medication she required, had drained all the remaining funds
they had available.
Now they were out of food and had no water or electricity. It was such a blessing to be able to help. This sequence of events had such a dramatic impact on this women’s son, he accepted Jesus Christ at Harvest Church a few weeks later. We never know what God has planned when we obey, but it is glorious to be a part of it.
Many Churches See The Vision:
We are so thankful to God for all the volunteers who come and help each week. At Christmas they were responsible for distributing hundreds of presents to
needy children. The programs are expanding as people are getting involved in this ministry from many denominations.
It is our hearts desire that every community embraces the work of God to minister to the children, the homeless and those in need. When each of us do our part, a tremendous work is accomplished for the kingdom of God.
No One Should Go Hungry!
Each week we go to the food bank and fill up the vans to supply food to hungry families.
Recently, we supplied food to a family of 13 who had run out of money. They were still grieving after losing their 16 year old son to suicide. For many families, there isn’t enough money to last the month and by the end of the month they are without food. We thank the Lord for the opportunity to help!
Salvation Around The World From Radio!
Sometimes it is beyond belief how a little radio program can impact peoples lives on the other side of the world. But we get e-mails from some of the most
remote places on earth.
Recently, we received an e-mail from a man in Nigeria, Africa, who wanted to know what it meant to be born again. We explained the plan of salvation and he accepted Christ into his heart right over the Internet. Since then, we’ve sent him a bible and now receive an e-mail almost every week telling of what the Lord in doing in his life. Can you imagine, some people think that the Internet is a tool of the enemy. Praise God, we’re using Radio and the Internet to win the lost to Jesus Christ.
Thank You Again For Caring Enough To Help Us Help Others:
Each new year we look forward, in anticipation, to see what God has in store for us. The wonderful thing about the Christian Life
is, being a part of God’s wonderful work, and see the glorious things that He does.
It is such a privilege to be a part of this work. Thank you for allowing us to continue to minister to those the world has forgotten.
In His Service,
Don & Carol Ann Waisanen
